I’ve got a very close group of friends that I met when I was the grand old age of 5 years old. Others I met much much later at the age of 8. Over the years we have worn our cool attire from the 80s, and not so stylish shell suits from the 90s. We have played in the streets till the street lights went on and our mums screamed for us to “get inside!!” and gone through school, colleges and different universities managing to stay very much in touch.
There have been times when a good time is a takeaway.
There have been times in Paris where we (Ok *I*) thought our hotel looked /was Sacre Couer. It turned out to be a shoddy youth hostel using the Sacre Couer as a little advertising con.
Or times where hours have gone by nattering…about nothing.
Or times in restaurants, eating.
And yakking…about nothing.
Or the time in the Sistine Chapel sneakily taking pics of the ceiling that had a ban on any photos.
Or…just sitting around eating ice cream…
Looking back, there has been a lot of eating. Girls know how to have a good time!
You can’t beat your oldest mates!
So true!
What lovely memories! I always envy people with really close female friendships. I have the same group if friends I’ve had since childhood, but we’ve never gone on holiday together.
I miss that bit now as its been a few years!
So good to keep up with girlfriends from when you were young and to get away on holiday with them and… I have to say…. that icecream looks scrummy.. can almost taste it! lol
The ice cream was verrrrry nice 😉
that picture looks good enough to eat! I love my girly times with my friends too 🙂
Girly times are the best aren’t they?
What a great take on the theme! :o)
Oh wow that looks delish!
It really was! You have to go to Rome just for the ice cream I think!
It’s so important to have a good group of girls in your life that have been there and supported you through many ups and downs. What precious memories you have! Loving the ice cream pic 😉
The Ice cream always makes it all a lot nicer 😉
That’s a great post – a lot of memories behind those words!
Thanks 🙂
Im still in touch with friends from when I was 5 too but don’t get to see them as often as I would like. Lovely post x
We mostly keep in touch on phones now. People should never be able to mine away! 🙂
Those look amazing and you can’t beat old friends. xx
You cannot, 🙂
Lovely post. Don’t know what I’d do without my old girlfriends, and we really are getting on now.. They got me through last year when my OH was away. Think I’d have lost the plot without them!
I think they’re a complete lifesaver even when they’re miles away. Especially when the OH is away too!
What wonderful memories. I miss my old friends, they all seem to have drifted off as we’ve grown up, makes me sad 🙁 x
I do have some friends I’ve completely lost touch with which is sad but I’m glad I still have the original bunch!
I too let my friendships from early years slide. Hold on tight, they are so very worth it.
Thanks, I will 🙂
I think I remember those shell suits:) And along with the eating must be the wine:)
Hehe I am hoping my mum destroyed my shell suit!
There’s nothing like lasting friendships. I’ve just been catching up with some girlfriends I haven’t seen since school (we usually live on the other side of the world from one another) and it’s like time hasn’t passed! x
We have this too. Great to have friends like that!
I miss my girlfriends! Even more so after reading this. You can’t beat old friends that you’ve known for years. So much shared fun.
You definitely can’t. Hope you see your soon on your trip back!
Yum! We had ice-cream like that with kids in Nice was amazing! X
I think they do some of the best ice creams in those parts don’t they?
i LOVE that you sum up your good times with your girlfriends with eating! its so true aswell because my friends and I have always had a good time when out eating a meal or at home eating cake.x
This is a bloody brilliant take on the theme, refreshing for it not to be cutey girls in pink stuff. Girl friends are so special aren’t they?
