Rubbish weather and one more week to go

We’ve been spending a lot of time in Manchester recently mainly to kit the boys out in winter gear. I’m not sure how they keep shooting up so often but they seem to be having tag team growth spurts recently, so we’re spending a lot of time in the shops. Thankfully they’re both now in clothes that don’t look like they’ve shrunk in the wash. And no trip to Manchester is complete without popping into somewhere nice to eat. We ended up at Comptoir Libanais which serves nice hearty Lebanese food. The nights are definitely drawing in and I love comfort food like that. With all the meals out and people bringing in Christmas tins already, I think we’re all going to be fat and ready for the oven by December.

With the rubbish weather coming from hurricane Ophelia and Storm Brian, we’ve been spending most days indoors and not really getting out to see all the golden colours of autumn. We really need to get out soon if only to blow the cobwebs away but, for now, we’ve been enjoying lots of movies on loop and sitting in front of the fire far too much (as well as screaming at the boys to “keep it down!!”).

We’re one of the odd areas of the country that isn’t on half term until next week. I don’t mind so much as the next half term will feel shorter but it’s going to be hard getting out of bed for school over the next week when everyone else will be having nice lie ins. Still…only 5 more days to go before we can throw routine out of the window for a bit.

Love that picture of the boys. Two of my kids keep growing too. My younger son desperately needs new trousers, it’s almost embarrassing!
Hang on in there for those last few days…

There aren’t many areas with the same half term as you, I hope having to wait brings you the good weather.

Great shot of the boys. We’re on half-term this week along with most of the rest of the country. Funnily enough, I went out to a newish Lebanese place in town just last week – I used to frequent a similar place in Oxford on a regular basis back in the day. Lovely food but definitely not great for vegetarians!

Any excuse to visit Manchester, I love the city! Lovely pic of the kids at the end there. Both looking engrossed in the film.

Hi Taz, I remember those days when suddenly nothing fits the children and there’s a quick (haha) trip to the shops to kit them out again, and I don’t miss them one bit. I love the way the hurricane has the female name and the storm a male name, is there a reason for that I wonder?… It is nice to enjoy some indoor time, but maybe not so much, I hope that when you finally get to half term, the weather has brightened up again.

I’ve just had to buy a load of new trousers too. H hasn’t really hit a major growth spurt for ages just steady growth, but dreading it when he does. It will be nice to have a shorter second half term and with all the Christmas things it should go fast.

Oh I love Lebanese food, it looks yummy. The best thing for it when the weather is rubbish is to stay inside, hopefully it will improve for half term and you can finally enjoy getting outisde!

It is a bit weird when everyone’s on different half terms. Thankfully our half term was the same as the next county – it causes a nightmare when N does tennis lessons outside the county – I never know which week we’re on or off!

oooooo you always find such great restaurants to dine at in Manchester Tas, the food looks delicious. Just think, when we are all getting up on Monday morning to do the school run, you will have the joy of staying in your pjs all day if you want to. Enjoy the downtime next week x
