7 years of blogging

Last week was one of my favourite blogging events…BlogOn. It’s held up in the north west and such a brilliant conference to learn and grow your blog, not that I’ve blogged all that well this past year. I always come away with very good intentions and I think the big thing I did take away this time is to grow my Pinterest a bit more. I tend to do well with the posts where I put the effort in but I need to be more consistent and get back into a bloggy groove. Throw in work and traveling for work and it all becomes a bit of a juggle to keep all the plates in the air.

BlogOn is also one of my favourite places to meet my blogging friends. A whole 7 years ago I started an online diary to record the little baby moments I kept forgetting through lack of sleep. I had no idea at the time I would keep it up for so long or that it would bring so many opportunities. My intention at the time was to blog once a month to keep a record of baby milestones. It slowly evolved into somewhere I love putting travel memories and food photos as well as all the random child milestones. I’m not sure I’ll ever do it professionally but I do love to still blog, the old fashioned way. Random posts and little over sharing thoughts, and tonnes of food and travel photos that I love to look back on and admire.

Almost every other blogger will tell you this, but I think the biggest thing blogging has brought me is a whole bunch of friends that I met through the community. They are now real life friends I now speak to most days and ones who have become part of my life. Funny how an online diary brings so much more than some written memories.

(For someone who is so trigger happy, I managed a grand total of 6 photos at this event. Here’s 3 of them!)…

  1. It was such a lovely day, I love Blog On and I am so glad that I made the last minute decision to go. I agree that it is so nice to meet up with blogging friends and that has always been the best bit about Blog On as it is so relaxed and everyone is really friendly and chilled out. It was great to see you too

  2. Alas, I didn’t get to Blog On, I was too busy overseeing our house move. It’s taking over my life! Lots of smiling faces in your pictures though, clearly I missed a good event. Seven years hey, plenty of time ot make lots of friends in the community and a friendly community it is, as you say.

  3. Blog on looked good. I’m hoping to be there in September. And after 7 years ( mine’s 7 in October I think) the social side is definitely a big part of it. I’m the same, I rarely take photos at conferences (mostly just of the food)

  4. You know you’ve been blogging for ages when someone posts photos of bloggers and you recognise so many faces. I’m glad you enjoyed BlogOn it looks like a great event.

  5. Happy blogiversary! Seven years is quite an achievement at a time when both family life and the online world has changed so much. It’s always lovely to meet up with folks at BlogOn, especially when we’ve known each other for quite a while but only circle back into each other’s orbit occasionally. I love that it’s so easy to pick up a conversation, even though we may not have seen each other face-to-face for a year or more. Not sure about the dodgy-looking bloke in the last photo, mind you … 🙂

  6. It’s very true that the friendships are one of the great things about blogging especially when you have been at it as long as we have. Great to see you in Manchester.

  7. I truly loved seeing you and it has been incredible meeting you as a friend. It is the true meaning behind blogging and you guys are the best. I wish we got more time together. Blogging has been an incredible journey and like you I came away with those intentions x
