Sign Right Here! Save The Children

“9cm?!! That’s it? What do you mean it’s not progressing?!”

I’d been in labour for about 28 hours and I felt as high as a kite on my excellent combination of gas & air and Diarmorphine. My labour had stopped dead in it’s tracks. An alarm went off and a Doctor shouted “It’s not good news!”. They had to do an emergency c section and to get Baby Boy out. I will always be grateful for what they did for me.

Unfortunately this help is not always available to those in countries like Ethiopia. They need Healthworkers right now to improve things, help save lives and give every baby the best possible start in life.

On Tuesday, Chris Mosler (@ChristineMosler) will attend the UN General Assembly in New York. She is going there with Liz Scarff on behalf of Save the Children to pressure David Cameron to play his full part in solving the health worker crisis. There is a target of 60,000 signatures on the petition by Tuesday. At the moment that petition sits at 41,863 can we change that? Sure we can!

SHE NEEDS 60,000 by Tuesday. Lets Help her get that and more!!!

Then the challenge set by @HelloItsGemma and @Michelletwinmum is that we want (need) to see 100 posts of 100 words linked up here by Tuesday. If 100 bloggers each write a post about this and encourage more signatures that could make a massive dent in the 20,000 signature shortfall that we sit with right now.

Being a very new blogger I was somewhat nervous when I got tagged for the very first time.  It came from Alyson over at @AlysonsBlog and is actually one of the best tags out there for a very good cause; the Save the Children organisation.

World leaders have 4 hours to save 4 million children’s lives. On June 13 the UK is hosting a half day global vaccination summit in London where world leaders and decision makers will decide how to get vaccines to the world’s poorest children.

People from the UK, USA and other modern countries will know and will have experienced the joys and comfort of modern medicine, treatments and the vaccines children are given to give them the best start in life.  As we all know, this is sadly not the case for children in some parts of the world.  The conference on the 13th June aims to discuss how to improve this situation and hopefully, come to a successful action plan for those that need it.

Some of you will know my niece recently contracted Pneumonia, and whilst I’m not going to cover any part of that here, I will say that something like that really REALLY scares the hell out of you and makes you not only appreciate the very fast treatment we have access to, but also the care of Doctors, consultants and aftercare we get.

This is not something others can take for granted.  According to the Save The Children Website, the reality is that 1 in 5 children receives no vaccine at all.

(Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a child to draw a picture! My Little One is 5 months.  My niece is currently ill and my nephew is staying with his Gran so I have run out of tiddly winks for a while.  As its such an important cause I wanted to post anyway!)
