I come bearing news from a galaxy far, far away. Jabba the Hutt (the pile of goo who put Princess Leia in that chain bikini) has a son, and for some reason he is extremely jacked. We know this because Jabba’s son, Rotta the Hutt, will be featured in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu. Naturally, he is being voiced by Jeremy Allen White, and we got a sneak peek of his bod today. Behold:
Rotta previously appeared in the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in which he was still a child and vaguely resembled a sperm. Now Rotta is all grown up and has White’s voice, so I imagine he’s a brooding tough guy with a lot of emotional turmoil simmering beneath the surface. He is also, as previously mentioned, absolutely shredded.
So canonically they must have creatine in the Star Wars universe? Can someone please update Wookieepedia?
The reason Rotta is so swole, according to director Jon Favreau, is that his job requires it. “[Rotta’s] in top form, fighting in the pits, a gladiator of sorts,” Favreau told Empire Magazine, which published the first up-close shot of the looksmaxxing nepo baby on Friday.
Favreau said that this new, muscular Rotta was inspired by Adonis Creed, Michael B. Jordan’s character from the Creed movies. “When you’re trying to establish yourself and your name is famous, when you’re Jabba the Hutt’s kid, what does that do?” he said. The answer, apparently, is to never skip chest day.
Which bring us, of course, to a more important question: Is Jabba the Hutt’s son hot? Rotta has several things going for him that, on paper, describe a hot guy. He’s built, he’s got big eyes, and while he has a hard exterior, it seems like there are emotional depths ready to be plumbed by the right woman. On the other hand, he is a giant slug in a crime family full of giant slugs. This is a tough one. Ultimately, the villainy of it all tips it. Paul Anthony Kelly as JFK Jr. will get to keep the title of Hot Guy of the Moment — solid effort from Rotta, though.
