Thanks to Ryan Murphy and FX’s Love Story, everybody wants to dress like Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, work like Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and smell like Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Even Wuthering Heights heartthrob Jacob Elordi was caught wearing Selima Optique’s Carolyn (a larger version of the Aldo, CBK’s signature sunglasses) a few weeks ago. And it seems Murphy-verse muse Kim Kardashian wanted in on the fun: Celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos revealed her newest ’do in an Instagram post last week, which he described as the “Carolyn Bessette Kennedy BLONDE.”
The warm, buttery blonde is certainly different from Kardashian’s usual icy tones. Giannetos wrote to The Cut that “the effortless minimalism of the ’90s and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy are so on trend,” so “this was a perfect moment.” But mainly, he created the style for Eva Longoria’s upcoming film, The Fifth Wheel, where Kardashian plays the “hot outsider” that leaves a friend group in shambles. Giannetos says the golden lob was a collaboration between himself, Kardashian, and Longoria.
And yes, it’s a wig, so don’t expect Kardashian to be adopting this look for her Skims shoots and Erewhon runs. “If I permanently cut and colored my clients’ hair every time we wanted a dramatic transformation, we’d run out of options,” Giannetos explained. But, hey, if Murphy ever decides to revisit Bessette Kennedy’s story and cast someone new, he should know Kardashian has a wig ready to go.
