The grand finale of awards season is finally here: It’s time for the 2026 Academy Awards. Of course we’re tuning in to see how the tight race for best picture between Sinners and One Battle After Another plays out, if host Conan O’Brien could possibly outdo Nikki Glaser’s performance at the Golden Globes (he won’t), and if Timothée Chalamet’s exhausting campaign for Best Actor in Marty Supreme — during which opera and ballet caught some serious strays — was actually effective.
But we’re also tuning in to see the Oscars red carpet, which is always one of the best fashion events of the year. Will Teyana Taylor win best dressed yet again? Will Timothée and Kylie finally walk the red carpet together? Will Margot Robbie continue method dressing for Wuthering Heights? Will I be able to focus on anyone besides Jacob Elordi? Who knows! But we’ll be keeping track of all-things Oscars red carpet, below.
So read on to see our ranking of the best-dressed stars, worst-dressed stars, and weirdest looks. And if you want to see all of our red-carpet coverage, right this way.

The Best Oscars Red-Carpet Looks
Teyana Taylor in Chanel and Tiffany & Co. jewelry
Yep, there’s our girl! Tens across the board.
Nicole Kidman in custom Chanel
More delicious feathers! More delicious Chanel! How lucky are we to exist at the same time as Matthieu Blazy?
Emma Stone in custom Louis Vuitton
She’s had a great awards-season red-carpet run so far, and this custom Louis Vuitton look is the perfect way to cap it off. I love the soft, fluid silhouette, plus the small details that make it feel so intentional, like the structured cap sleeves and subtle empire waistline.
Renate Reinsve in custom Louis Vuitton and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes
Going the understated, minimal glam route for the Oscars can be tricky, but Renate Reinsve is pulling it off beautifully in Louis Vuitton. This look instantly reminded me of the now-iconic custom Calvin Klein dress Jennifer Lawrence wore for her Oscars debut in 2011. Both looks are so simple yet so impactful.
Demi Moore in custom Gucci
Demi Moore and stylist Brad Goreski have really become a dream team over the past few years, constantly pulling looks that are so well-suited for the actress and the career moment she’s having. She continues to embrace more experimental couture looks, and we’re blessed to be able to witness this new era of Demi.
Misty Copeland in David Koma and Jared Atelier jewelry
A historic American ballerina wearing a tulle peplum blazer that appears to be tutu-inspired on the Oscars red carpet feels very correct. I’m already seeing mixed reactions to this look online, but we here at The Cut are into it. Stylist Karla Welch was right to go no necklace, and I love the sleek, pulled-back hair.
Ji-young Yoo in Carolina Herrera and Messika jewelry
The Kpop Demon Hunters star looks like the belle of the ball in this two-toned Carolina Herrera dress. Not to mention, her bob is bobbing.
Wunmi Mosaku in custom Louis Vuitton
An absolute vision! Head-to-toe jewel-toned sequins have never looked so effortless.
Miyako Bellizzi in vintage Christian Dior and custom Pandora jewelry
One of my favorites of the night from Oscar-nominated Marty Supreme costume designer Miyako Bellizzi. The deeply saturated red really stands out in a sea of jewel tones and soft pastels.
Paul Mescal in Celine
Very into this floppy little bow tie situation and the little bitty buttons on his jacket.
Gracie Abrams
Gracie Abrams looks even better. The low-rise skirt, cropped tank, and neck scarf are youthful and fun, but the dark colors make it feel formal enough for this red carpet. It’s very “pop star goes to the Oscars,” which we love.
Charithra Chandran in Miss Sohee couture
From the lavish fabric and rich green hue to the long train and classic diamond tennis necklace, this is how you show up to the Oscars red carpet.
Gwyneth Paltrow in custom Giorgio Armani Privé and Tiffany & Co. jewelry
Sure, it’s a little boring. But I appreciate the nostalgia of this look. It’s classic ’90s GP, and she looks absolutely beautiful.
Hudson Williams in Balenciaga
I have to confess: I want more from my man. As the undisputed internet “It” boy, he can do no wrong right now, which gives him free rein to swing big on the red carpet. But he still looks sharp as hell in this Balenciaga suit and a slutty little Bulgari Serpentini, so best dressed it is! Bonus points for being on trend with the brooch.
Rose Byrne in Dior
An elegant dress with intricate details is a recipe for success on the Oscars red carpet. I especially love her red lip and one-of-a-kind Taffin by James de Givenchy necklace. The jewelry designer and nephew of Givenchy famously never, ever lends pieces for award shows, so seeing this necklace on a red carpet is major.
Jacob Elordi in Bottega Veneta
The pants are a little long and could use a good steam but other than that, Jacob Elordi looks perfect (as always).
Pedro Pascal in Chanel
I was hoping someone would wear one of the new Chanel feather brooches tonight, and I’m glad it’s this king. Who needs a suit jacket with an accessory this fabulous?
Barbie Ferreira in GapStudio
Another rich hue on the red carpet that’s striking and statement-making. The fit of the bustier is also to die for.
Shaboozey in Campillo
For his Oscars debut, Shaboozey told E! host Zuri Hall that he “wanted to come correct” on the red carpet — and it’s safe to say he accomplished that in this wide-leg tuxedo by Mexico City–based menswear brand Campillo. The pearl earrings and matching waist chain take this look from good to great. We love to see men experimenting a bit on the red carpet, so thank you, Shaboozey!
Odessa A’zion in Valentino and custom Pandora
Her red-carpet looks are becoming a bit repetitive and predictable, but I appreciate the fact that Odessa A’zion has a strong sense of personal style. It’s very boho, and that’s clearly her thing. I give it a soft best dressed …
Jessie Buckley in Chanel
I’m also on the fence about this one. She looks nice, but I want more from her. The soft silhouette is a little drab, especially considering she’s a front-runner tonight and could have had a major red-carpet moment.

The Worst Oscars Red-Carpet Looks
Timothée Chalamet in custom Givenchy by Sarah Burton
His downfall should be studied — and as a former stan, I feel qualified to say that. It’s just that I would not choose to wear sunglasses on the red carpet if I was embroiled in controversy and on the verge of being canceled by the fine-arts community. At the VMAs, sunglasses look cool; at the Oscars, they make him look arrogant. There’s also the fact that he’s worn almost this exact same Givenchy suit like three times already.
Anne Hathaway in Valentino
I won’t mince words: The belt is a shocking and tragic choice. She usually stuns, so we are confused by this.
Damson Idris in Prada
I wasn’t aware that looking bad is something Damson Idris is capable of, but there’s way too much going on here. I hate, hate, hate the textured lapels.
Felicity Jones in Prada
This color is beautiful on her, but the silhouette of the dress is getting lost behind the tulle. This is probably a dress that looks better in person, but the intricate details on each side look a bit muddled in photos.
Mckenna Grace
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look like a Disney princess on the Oscars red carpet, but this is too on the nose.
Taylor Frankie Paul
Oof. I feel like she’s going through a lot right now, so I’ll leave it at that.
Alicia Silverstone in Christian Siriano
A black-and-white gown with velvet opera gloves is a classic look for the Oscars, so I understand the choice. But, unfortunately, the proportions here are all wrong. And her lifeless hair is not helping.
Chase Infiniti in custom Louis Vuitton
This one pains me because she’s been doing so well on the red carpet this awards season, and I fully anticipated tonight to be a big moment for her. But it’s hard to get past the ruffles; the dress as a whole feels incohesive and confusing because the skirt and bodice look like completely different styles.
.
The Weirdest Oscars Red-Carpet Looks
Kate Hudson in Giorgio Armani Privé
The dress is just too mermaid for our liking but to each their own!
Chloé Zhao
Weird…but in a good way! The Scorpios on our team were into it.
Melissa McCarthy
We love Melissa McCarthy but this just looks like two different dresses.
Buddy Guy
The king of polka dots strikes again! It’s quirky in the best way possible, and I’ll be thinking about these incredibly fun leather overalls for weeks. Thank you for a wearing look that sparks joy, Buddy Guy.
Kevin O’Leary
You can’t see me right now, but just know I’m rolling my eyes.
